Named for the Hawaiian word for wave, the Nalu is built from a single continuous herringbone braid — an ancient weaving pattern that appears in Egyptian tomb goldwork and in the earliest textiles of Italy. Worked from supple vegetable-dyed leather and closed with solid 18K gold beads hammered by hand in the Maui studio, it sits close at the base of the neck and softens against the skin the more it's worn.

Wear it alone against a linen dress, layered under pearls, or brought out to sea. It's meant to be lived in — and it will look better in three years than it does today.
