Functional nutrition is the holistic approach to diet, taking into consideration your lifestyle factors that could affect your food choices, such as activity levels, environment, sleep or the presence of chronic disease. Plain and simple, it’s the practice of considering every aspect of one’s health, diet, stress levels, lifestyle and overall physiological makeup when giving clients nutritional recommendations. We focus on getting to the “root” of every downstream health issue that arises.
I believe, just because a food or food group has been shown to be “good for you,” it doesn’t mean it’s “good” for you. Food has the power to heal or to harm & functional nutrition means one size doesn’t fit all!
Mission Statement
Our goal is to help you achieve true health and longevity by engaging the three pillars of wellness- internal (nutrition and gut health), physical (exercise and sleep) and emotional and spiritual self-care- that together will help your body act and feel younger.
Functional Nutrition Process
There are three steps in our unique process:
We help you remove the top inflammatory offenders in your diet. We call this “clearing the muddy waters”- a non-negotiable step. This step is crucial to help reduce systemic inflammation, which can be the main cause of a multitude of symptoms and health issues. This process helps you see what is going on in your body that is unique to you. This step must be dealt with, or it can be difficult to heal your body moving forward.
After we clear the systemic inflammation, we focus on the remaining symptoms. We take a thorough, individual health and lifestyle history which will give us transparent direction in identifying triggers and root causes. In this process we will also tackle any nutrient or lifestyle deficiencies that might be getting in the way of your overall healing.
We work with you every step of the way. We work carefully with your history, current issues and daily lifestyle preferences, so that we can create a robust plan that feels right for you. We check in along the way and continue to work with you and your team of practitioners every step of the way.
